6 Ways To Fit Exercise Into Your Busy Schedule By Brian Hubbard

Exercise - everybody has to do it, but no one seems to be able to find the time to fit it into a hectic schedule consistently. Exercise has many health benefits including making you look and feel better, increasing your energy levels and decreasing your stress levels. You can't afford not to do it. Here are ten ways that you can use to fit exercise into your already busy schedule.

1) Make time.

This sounds harsh, but it's true. Just make the time. Initially, it will be a change, but if you can fit in two to three workouts of just 30 minutes a week, you'll be well on your way to fitness. We waste more time than that doing silly or meaningless tasks each day. Exercise should be a priority.

2) Make lunch hour exercise hour.

Giving up your lunch hour may seem extreme but so too is dying young of heart disease, diabetes or other diseases that afflict those who are not in good shape. You don't even need to take the whole hour - half an hour or workout time still gives you plenty of time to eat. You can even make it a social affair and invite your work buddies to walk with you.

3) Get a buddy.

Studies show that when you have an exercise buddy, you exercise more. The thinking is that we will go and exercise so we don't let the other person down. The buddy should preferably be a friend but not too close of a friend or even your spouse because it's easier to say no to a person the closer you are to them.

4) Exercise early in the day.

The easiest way to ensure that you'll exercise for the day is by getting the exercise in early, usually the first thing in the morning. So wake up and exercise. Pretty soon it will become a habit and you can avoid the nagging, "I've got to exercise" feeling all day long. It will already be crossed off your to-do list.

5) Combine activities.

You can exercise and do something else at the same time. Want to catch up on your reading? You can read while you're on the treadmill, elliptical or stationary bike. How about putting the TV on while you work out? That way you can watch your favorite shows while getting the benefits of a workout at the same time.

6) Involve the family.

Many people say they can't exercise because it takes away from family time. Well, everyone in the family should be exercising. Why not buy a fun, fitness or dance game for one of the gaming consoles where you work up a sweat? Don't like that - you can go for a walk around your neighborhood, play baseball in the backyard, kick the soccer ball around or do whatever else you and your family enjoy.

No matter which way or ways you choose to increase your fitness levels, your body will thank you for it. A busy schedule is a common occurrence these days, but it's not an excuse to say no to exercise. Just do it and you'll feel so much better, you'll wonder why you didn't make the time sooner.
